As the Associate Vice President for Public Safety, Craig provides administrative oversight for the Emory Police Department, Emory Fire Safety, and Emory Emergency Medical Service. The Emory Police Department (EPD) provides complete law enforcement services to the Emory community which includes the Emory Campus, Midtown Campus, and Oxford Campus. Emory EMS (EEMS), the first and only collegiate EMS service in Georgia, provides 24/7 emergency medical care on the Emory campus during the Fall and Spring semesters. The Division of Fire Safety provides fire safety services to the Emory, Oxford, and Grady area campuses. Craig also serves as the federal Clery Act compliance coordinator, working closely with the Office of Compliance in developing and maintaining a robust Clery Act compliance program for the Emory entity.
Craig began his employment with Emory as a police officer in 1978, progressing through the ranks and serving as Chief of Police from 1995-2016. He holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in the field of Criminal Justice Management and has previously served as an adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice program at Georgia State University. He is a member of several professional organizations, having served as a past president of the Georgia Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and the DeKalb County Police Chief’s Association.
